Woof woof !

Hi, my name is Sampson and I’m a 3 ½ year old Newfoundland. We are also referred to as Newfs or Newfies. There are some very famous Newfs including Nana from Peter Pan!

I live with my human parents, 4 other dogs and 2 cats that are my brothers and sisters. Two are also Newfies like me. We all love to play Frisbee, ball and chase games! Well, the cats don’t like it much J

Newfs are known as the “Gentle Giant” and we have wet mouths, which is important because of the water work we do. It also means we drool, so my human Mom will always have plenty of clean towels for you when you read to me!  

I have gone to school and been in dog shows too, I’ve earned titles in Water Rescue, Obedience, and Rally including my CGC (Canine Good Citizen.) I also love Agility, Dock Diving, can pull a cart and love Tracking too! My favorites though are water rescue, I can save a person who may be in trouble in the water and even pull a boat to shore, and I love for children to read to me! My human parents have a Granddaughter Aubrey, so that makes me her Uncle Sam! She loves to visit us, do water rescue work with us and she loves to read!

My human Mom and I had to take classes and tests so we could become a Registered Delta Society Therapy Team and READing Paws Team, and now we can come to schools and libraries and you can read to me!

I have many nicknames including Handsome Sampson, SamBoat, Boat, ShowBoat and Sammie.
