Jobie’s Page

Dear Friend,

My name is Jobie because I live in the shadow of Job's Peak in Minden, Nevada.  My family rescued me from Guide Dogs for the Blind in California when it was discovered that I had some knee problems and couldn't be a guide dog.  Truth be told, I was also a little too full of energy as well, but I've learned how to control myself better now and passed my therapy dog test with flying colors.  Do you ever have trouble controlling yourself?  If you do, you might understand how hard I try.

I live to be loved, petted and hugged and I try to crawl in people's laps.  I'm a Labrador Retriever but sometimes I try to pretend I'm a lap dog.  I like to be touching you when you read to me.

When I'm not being read to I like to go hiking with my mom and my Labrador friend, Trace.  I just turned 3 years old and I enjoyed my party. (see my hat?)   This year I learned how to hike with a doggie pack carrying my own food and water and I learned how to swim!

You might see me at the Minden Library, or Pinon Hills Elementary having children read to me.   Or maybe you'll meet me out hiking or swimming in Lake Tahoe.

Please write to me at Jobie@ReadingPaws.org and I'll answer you.  Will you come read to me, please?
