Woof!

Hi, my name is Nora!

I’m an Australian Shepherd, but don’t let the name fool you.  Australian Shepherds are not from Australia.  In fact, our breed was developed in the western United States to herd sheep and cows and to protect our families on the farm.  As for me, I have only seen sheep once.  But, I must admit I did like to run them around in circles.

I have a brother named Rocky who is a Cairn Terrier like Toto in “The Wizard of Oz” and a Tuxedo cat brother named Max.  I also have a sister named Lucy who is a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier.  Lucy and I play Agility with our mom.

Agility is when you and your mom run around an obstacle course together.  She tells me which jumps to jump over and which tunnels to run through.  I get to climb this tall thing called an A-frame that feels like I’m climbing a mountain.  If we run the course the right way, we get pretty ribbons.

My favorite things to do are to visit kids at the Children’s Hospital and have kids read me stories at libraries and schools. I really like to give the kids high fives and whisper to them.  Mom lets me use my inside voice, so it is ok if I whisper.

I am very soft and have a beautiful long tail with a white tip.  My tail is very special because most Australian Shepherds don’t have tails.  I am what they call a black-tri because I have 3 colors.  I am black and white with copper points above my eyes.
